The Project
Is war ever considered by urban planners?
Urban planners are taught to design cities and their landscapes looking in perspective trying to harmonise the needs of the present society with those of a society to be. Land use and Master plans, regulatory policies normally, do not include provisions for preventive measures to implement in peace time to minimise the effects of an eventual armed conflict. In the case of war, heritage cities are normally at risk. War Free World Heritage Listed Cities explores two cases of Heritage listed sites within historic urban areas that were very recently at risk because of armed conflicts.
